You can see it clearly, all laid out in your technicolour imagination. The weary group of survivors' huddle around the fire, each one trying to stop the snow from disturbing the flames. They feel they’ve made it through another night. Then, the camera pans back to see dozens of large red eyes appear amongst the surrounding trees. They are not safe yet... Without the right video equipment, bringing ideas, scenes, and shots to life can prove a task too hard. At PROtog, we understand how important it is to arm yourself with superior equipment. Which is we have created what we think is the most superior range of video equipment available in Australia. From video camera holders to camera sliders right through to stabilisers for cameras, no matter what video equipment you need to take the perfect shot, we’ll be able to help.
While occasionally it can work to great effect to use a shaky shot, most of the time you want your shots to be as smooth as possible. Shots that shake and stutter will only serve to interrupt the flow of the film, and more than likely will turn an audience off. When you use stabilisers for your cameras you reduce this risk considerably. A gimbal stabiliser—probably the most common camera stabiliser—is remarkably effective to achieving this, especially considering they are handheld. By using motors and sensors, the gimbal is able to rotate and stabilise the camera, no matter the position or direction. The result is more stabled, more balanced images and shots every time.
If the scene you have in mind requires a much longer, much smoother shot than what you can achieve with a handheld camera, then it’s time to consider a camera slider. By using a fixed track or rail to allow the camera slider to move—like a train—in a linear fashion, you can follow a character down a rain-soaked street or move through a dense forest, take after take, without the risk of shaking or vibration. As a filmmaker, you’re often at the mercy of the quality of performances from those in front of the camera; with a high-quality camera slider, though, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that the technical aspects will remain the same for each take, no matter how many hours it takes for the actor to nail the scene.
If you want to lose the shaky, sub-par filming and start shooting scenes smoothly and efficiently, get in touch with the friendly, expert team at PROtog. We’ve been helping Australian studios, photographers, filmmakers, and creatives for almost 20 years by sourcing and supplying the highest quality video equipment. No matter whether you need a video camera holder, a camera slider, or a stabiliser for your camera, we’re confident we can pair you with the equipment that perfectly complements your needs. And with industry-leading brands such as Kupo, Nanlite, Jinbei, and Nanlux, you’ll know you’re in steady hands.
